THE
Project
Introduction
Water4All is a European Partnership co-funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe. Launched in 2022, it brings together around 90 partners from 33 countries to address water security challenges through research, innovation, demonstration and international cooperation.
The Partnership responds to increasing pressures on freshwater resources driven by climate change, human activities, overexploitation, water quality deterioration, floods and droughts.
Objetive
The objective of Water4All is to enable water security at large scale and in the long term by strengthening water-related research and innovation, supporting systemic transformations, and connecting scientific knowledge with policy, end-users and market actors.
The Partnership aims to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 6, while supporting Europe’s competitiveness and growth.
Methodology
Water4All is structured around six action pillars covering strategic coordination, research and innovation funding, science-policy-end-user interfaces, demonstration activities, international cooperation, and overall management.
Its activities include annual Joint Transnational Calls, thematic programming actions, knowledge hubs, young researcher calls, capacity building, international cooperation and the development of tools for water management.
A central element of the demonstration strategy is the Water-Oriented Living Lab concept, which supports user-centred, open innovation ecosystems where researchers, solution providers, authorities, end-users and other stakeholders co-create and test innovative solutions in real-life settings.
