Key Points

Socio-ecological Systems

Understanding Socio-ecological system Dynamics

We analyze the interactions between natural ecosystems and human activities, focusing on the microeconomic and macroeconomic impacts on agricultural practices and how these behaviors affect water resources and biodiversity.

Uncertainty

Bracing for an uncertain future

We investigate the uncertainties in climate change projections and socio-ecological modelization, aiming to improve decision support systems for water management in agriculture.

Stakeholder Engagement

Building a Collaborative Pathway

We develop processes to attract and engage local stakeholders in the co-design of transformative policies, enabling joint adaptation to future climate challenges through harmonious and collaborative pathways.

The Team

About Us

WAVE Group focuses on developing and delivering policy-relevant analysis of both physical and socioeconomic systems for building and enhancing water resilience under climate and socio-economic change.

Towards a more sustainable world

The group involves people from IMDEA Agua and the Faculty of Economics of Alcalá University (UAH). The main research areas include:

Economic and institutional analysis of water governance under climate and socioeconomic change.
Socioecological and hydroeconomic modelling.
Uncertainty and nonlinear change: modelling, forecasting, and analysis.
Actionable science and stakeholder engagement: grassroot partnerships, serious games.
Robust decision making and water resilience.
